Band profile

Nova Spei — a new hope, three eras

Founded in Trois-Rivières in 2012 by guitarist Dany Soucy, Nova Spei has built its identity around French-language modern metal: heavy grooves, progressive textures and lyrics that leave room for reflection. Its name means new hope in Latin — a fitting thread for a band that has repeatedly reinvented itself.

From a new hope to a new era

Nova Spei was formed in Trois-Rivières in 2012 around guitarist Dany Soucy and the desire of musicians from the metal scene to create again. The name Nova Spei evokes a new hope — the idea of rediscovering the drive to write, record and perform.

2016–2017Les Vivants-Morts opens the recorded chapter in 2016. The self-titled debut album follows on November 24, 2017, featuring guests connected to Smash Hit Combo, Burning the Oppressor, Death Note Silence and Anonymus.
2018–2020The band continues with singles including L'Homme aux 1000 Sourires and Qui Sème Le Vent…, while expanding its presence on the Quebec live circuit.
2021Second album Sequentis marks another major step. It was later nominated at the 2022 GAMIQ for Metal Album of the Year.
2026Renaissance, Déraciné and Enterré Vivant introduce a revitalized lineup: Dany Soucy, Nicolas Dumais-Brouillette, Julien De Carufel, Cédrick Charland and vocalist Emmanuelle Desbiens-Dubois. Trinitas, a 13-track album produced with Francis Perron and mastered by Maor Appelbaum, is scheduled for November 6.

The Trinitas era

Trinitas marks a major evolution for Nova Spei: a revitalized lineup, a new voice and a more organic approach to the band's modern metal sound. Recorded with Francis Perron and mastered by Maor Appelbaum, the 13-track album is scheduled for November 6, 2026.
