About
Formed in Birmingham, Black Sabbath helped define heavy metal by turning electric blues into dark, unmistakably heavy riffs. The original lineup was Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. Essential records include Paranoid (1970) and Master of Reality (1971), while Heaven and Hell (1980) represents the landmark era fronted by Ronnie James Dio. The original members reunited in Birmingham on July 5, 2025 for the farewell concert Back to the Beginning. This profile covers the band's legacy rather than implying an ongoing tour.
